Overview
Miguel Mihura (1905-1977) rompió con su primera obra, Tres sombreros de copa, los moldes del teatro de la primera mitad del siglo xx. Hombre genial, vividor, dibujante (Gutiérrez), periodista (La Ametralladora y La Codorniz), guionista (¡Bienvenido, Mr. Marshall!, en colaboración con Berlanga), escritor y dramaturgo, «es, antes que nada un poeta». Así lo ve Antonio Mingote en su excelente Prólogo a estas dos obras: MELOCOTÓN EN ALMÍBAR y NINETTE Y UN SEÑOR DE MURCIA.
Como en todo el teatro de Mihura, son los personajes femeninos los que animan y argumentan las dos comedias: la monja Sor María, detective aficionada; Nuria, una chica de «vida alegre»; Doña Pilar, ama de casa tontaina y charlatana, o Ninette, prototipo de mujer ideal, libre, alegre y desinhibida.
Con MELOCOTÓN EN ALMÍBAR, parodia de las novelas policíacas, consigue Mihura una comedia de «suspense» pulida y trabajada; NINETTE Y UN SEÑOR de Murcia, donde caricaturiza la vida española de la época, en su contraste con la parisina, es «sin duda, una de las mejores comedias de su autor. Y tal vez, desde el punto de vista de la mecánica teatral, la mejor».
